🌿 Why Regular Lawn Care Matters

A lawn that's mowed regularly at the right height grows thicker and crowds out weeds naturally. Skip the mowing for a few weeks and the grass grows long, goes to seed, and thins out — making room for weeds, moss, and bare patches. The cycle is harder to reverse the longer it's left, and what starts as a missed cut or two can turn into a full lawn restoration job.

Feeding and weed treatment work the same way. A well-fed lawn resists disease and recovers faster from dry spells. Left unfed, the grass weakens and moss creeps in, especially in shaded or poorly drained areas. Regular maintenance prevents these problems rather than trying to fix them after the damage is done — and it's considerably cheaper than starting from scratch.

✂️ How Often Should I Mow My Lawn?

During the main growing season — roughly March through to October — most lawns need mowing once a week. In peak summer growth, twice a week keeps things looking their best. In cooler months, a fortnightly cut is usually enough to keep it tidy without stressing the grass.

The key is never to remove more than a third of the blade in a single cut. Cutting too short weakens the root system and makes the lawn more vulnerable to drought, disease, and weed invasion. We adjust the mowing height seasonally — slightly higher in summer to retain moisture, and lower in spring and autumn to encourage thickening and lateral growth.
